Microsoft SYNC & iPhone

Ford Fusion, Technology

So as a proud new owner of the 2010 Ford Fusion Ghost SE I figured I would do a review of how well Microsoft SYNC and iPhone play together.

"SYNC: Say the Word" ad campaign will feature robotic "voice agents" that act as personal assistants as voice commands are activated. The campaign launches as Ford teams up with Best Buy Mobile stores and Geek Squad to host consumer pilot programs.

While at the dealership I was able to sync my iPhone before even leaving the lot. I had no problems with indexing like I have read about in forums. I am using iPhone Firmware 3.1.3 and Microsoft SYNC v3.1. I am connecting using bluetooth.

The only issue I have incountered is that while using bluetooth streaming audio every now and then it has a break in the audio for about a half second. I also have to learn alot of  voice commands.

A plus is Microsoft SYNC phone functionality worked perfectly. I was able to make and receive calls using only my voice and it read my text messages to me. It downloaded my phonebook. I like that I can create  a library of destination points.

  1. Hey I get the same problem with audio over bluetooth! What is that? Why does it do that? Didn’t they notice that when they made it? I can’t find anything anywhere on it and it drives me crazy!

My belief is that Microsoft wants to promote SYNC users to use Windows Mobile devices.
I am going to hookup my iPhone through USB and see if audio content can be managed through voice because the screen goes white and says something to the effect of iPod Device. I will report back on my findings.
